What We Do
Killawatt was established to provide
Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessment services
nationwide. With an extensive Engineering and Project
Management background in the commercial, retail, residential
and food sectors Killawatt know the importance of providing
a professional and efficient service to our clients
and we pride ourselves in our reputation.
At Killawatt we survey your building
and compute this data to assess its energy rating. This
involves carrying out an onsite survey to establish
dimensions, materials and services e.g. lighting and
heating for the building. This data is then analysed
in a software programme (DEAP for domestic, NEAP for
non-domestic and DEC_Tool for public buildings) to produce
a Building Energy Rating Cert
(BER Certificate)
or DEC certificate.
This calculation produces an energy
rating and advisory report specific to the individual
building, which we review and present to the client.
We take the client through the assessment
and the advisory report and advise them on what methods
and steps they can take to increase the energy rating
of their building. This is broken down into short, medium
and long term gain.
Insurance:
Killawatt is fully insured with cover
for professional indemnity, public liability and employers
liability insurance.
Legislation:
Please note that from January 1st 2009
all buildings, commercial and domestic when offered
for sale or rent will have to have a Building Energy
Rating Certificate, and all public buildings with a
gross internal floor area greater than 1000m2 are required
to display a Display Energy Certificate in a prominent
place clearly visible to the public.
